  • Express Entry - CWIS

The Express Entry program is indeed a key immigration stream for Canada, facilitating the entry of skilled workers into the country. It operates primarily online and encompasses three main categories:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class: This category is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who intend to live in any Canadian province or territory, excluding Quebec. The main requirements typically include a high level of education (usually a post-secondary degree or diploma), several years of work experience in a skilled occupation, proficiency in English or French, and meeting age criteria.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class: This category is for skilled workers with experience in specific trade occupations who intend to live in any Canadian province or territory, excluding Quebec. Requirements typically include a certain level of education or training in the trade, a specified amount of work experience in the trade, language proficiency, and meeting age criteria.
  • Canadian Experience Class: This category is for individuals with skilled work experience in Canada who wish to become permanent residents. Applicants must have gained skilled work experience in Canada with proper authorization, typically through temporary work permits, and meet language proficiency requirements. Education, work experience, language skills, and age are factors considered for eligibility.

Each category has its own specific requirements tailored to the types of skills and experiences valued in that category, but in general, high levels of education, relevant work experience, language proficiency, and meeting age criteria are key indicators of eligibility across all categories. Additionally, candidates are evaluated based on a points-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which considers various factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other adaptability factors. Candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residency through regular draws conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
